Progressive Resource for News, Information, Organizations and Political Campaigns for All Fifty States
For most Americans, Hawaii is little more than Fantasy Island, a place for North Americans to project their fantasies about an easy life. The truth about Hawaii is harder than that. It's a real place, and it faces the real problems that confront the rest of the United States of America. As much as in the rest of the USA, Hawaiians are confronting the federal government's agenda of restricting freedom and pursuing policies of anger and fear.
Hawaii certainly has its share of separation from the culture of continental America, and yet it is surrounded by the problems of the American federal government. Besieged oceans and clearcut mountains mirror the Republican assault on the environment found on the mainland. Hawaii's very identity is a constant source of questioning too, although the other 49 states don't seem to be much aware of the issue. Hawaii experiences the status of a minority within the very nation that so proudly consumes its sovereignty.
In our survey of Hawaii, we've found many dedicated progressive organizations and individual liberals. However, we know that there are even more to be found. We want to help the progressives of Hawaii in their work to counter the politics of fear and hate, so, if you know of any progressive groups, candidates, and information resources in Hawaii that we don't already have listed in this directory, get in touch and we'll take a look, and consider adding them to this growing catalog of people working for freedom, fairness, and human decency in Hawaii.
