All of America has clear thoughts of Maine, for although Maine is in the northeastern corner of our country, it has a hold on the center of the American way of life. The idea of Maine evokes nature, community, and simple living.

Of course, that's the idea of Maine. The reality of Maine is about a heck of a lot more than lobster boats, shucked oysters and blueberries. For those who don't just vacation in Kennebunkport, life is a real challenge. The people of Maine are struggling under the same burden that everyone else in the nation faces as a result of the stultifying status quo.

So too, as is happening all over America, the progressives of Maine are struggling to put things right. We put together this directory of progressive resources in Maine because we think that the good hard work of liberal activists in Maine deserves greater attention. In our search, we have come across a whole lot of good progressive organizations and individuals in Maine, but we're know that there are even more to be found.
