The Progressive State of South Carolina

South Carolina has a long history of shadowy right-wing organizations that seek to turn government power over to extremist fundamentalist groups. All along the way, however, there have been good, strong, principled South Carolinians who have worked in the cause of social progress.

Education is one of the most basic, and most important fronts in the progressive movement in South Carolina. Countering the radical religious abstinence-only education programs, campaigns of intimidation through loud and conspicuous prayer, and anti-evolution zealotry is a full time job, and we're happy to see many people from South Carolina are on the task.

We created this page of South Carolina progressive resources in order to lend a hand. South Carolina's social inertia creates an obscuring fog that smothers any free thought or progressive organization that ventures out into the open. So, we're looking for help in expanding out listings here. So, if you know of any progressive candidates, information resources or organizations in South Carolina that we don't have listed here, let us know so that we can consider including them in our growing index.
